RF Coaxial Connections & Rigid Line

The Backbone of High-Power Broadcast Transmission

Your transmission system is only as strong as its weakest link. In high-power RF environments, the "plumbing"—the rigid coaxial lines, elbows, and flanges—determines the reliability and efficiency of signal delivery.

MDL Communications supplies COM-TECH’s comprehensive suite of Coaxial Connection Components. Manufactured to strict mechanical tolerances, these components ensure low VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio) and perfect electrical continuity from your transmitter output to the antenna feed.

Product Categories

1. Rigid Coaxial Line Sections

COM-TECH rigid lines are the industry standard for transporting high RF power with minimal loss. Available in standard EIA sizes, they feature high-conductivity outer conductors and silver-plated inner conductors.

  • Standard Lengths: Available in standard 20ft (approx. 6m) sections or custom cut lengths.
  • Inner Supports: Low-loss PTFE insulators ensure concentricity and stable impedance.

2. Elbows & Bends

Navigating the physical layout of a transmitter room requires precision bends. COM-TECH elbows maintain 50-ohm impedance through the turn, preventing signal reflections.

  • 90° Elbows: Available in mitered or swept designs depending on frequency/power needs.
  • 45° Bends: For complex routing paths.
  • Swivel Flanges: Many elbows feature swivel flanges to simplify alignment during installation.

3. Adapters & Transitions

Interfacing between different equipment often requires transitioning between connector sizes or types. COM-TECH offers a massive library of precision adapters.

  • Inter-Series Adapters: Connect a 7/16 DIN cable to a 1-5/8" rigid line, or N-Type to 7/8".
  • Reducers: Smoothly transition from larger diameter lines (e.g., 3-1/8") to smaller inputs (e.g., 1-5/8") without impedance bumps.

4. Hardware & Accessories

The details matter. We supply the essential hardware to complete the installation:

  • O-Rings & Hardware Kits: Essential for weatherproofing outdoor connections.
  • Gas Barriers: To seal pressurized nitrogen sections.
  • Bellows: To absorb thermal expansion and contraction in long runs.

Why Source "Plumbing" from MDL?

Buying rigid line components isn't just about the metal; it's about the logistics. Rigid line is difficult to ship and easy to damage.

  • Logistics Experts: MDL handles the complex importation and freight of long rigid line crates to your site in Canada.
  • System Design: We can review your room layout and recommend the exact bill of materials (BOM) for elbows and cuts.
  • Quick Adapters: We often stock the critical "emergency" adapters (e.g., 1-5/8" to N-Female) needed for testing.
