UHF Mask Filters

UHF Mask Filters for TV Translators & Low Power Transmitters

Keep your remote sites on-air and compliant with ISED BPR-10 standards.

When a filter fails at a remote translator site, your coverage map shrinks and your license is at risk. MDL Communications provides rapid-response sourcing for high-performance UHF mask filters designed specifically for the Canadian broadcast environment.

The "Universal" Replacement for Canadian LPTV

We supply the Com-Tech FC6D110C Series, the industry-standard 6-pole filter for 800W–1.5kW applications. It is the ideal technical drop-in replacement for aging filters in:

  • Technalogix Translators & Transmitters
  • Larcan Low Power Units (Legacy Support)
  • Rohde & Schwarz LPTV Systems
  • Screen Service & Eurotek Transmitters

Why Engineers Choose the FC6D110C:

  • High Power Handling: Rated for 1.2 kW ATSC (convection) and up to 1.5 kW ATSC (with heat sinks), providing significant headroom for 800W sites.
  • Temperature Stable: Patented "DualCross" technology ensures the mask stays compliant even in unconditioned remote shelters (Rated up to 65°C / 149°F).
  • Modular Connectors: 7/16 DIN (Default), 7/8" EIA Flange, or N-Type can be field-swapped if your feedline requirements change.
  • 10-Year Warranty: Backed by Com-Tech's industry-leading warranty for passive components.

Supported COM-TECH Models

MDL Communications supplies the full range of UHF Mask Filters. Common models available for order in Canada include:

Model Number Description Application
FC6D110C UHF 6-Pole Mask Filter (Dual Cross-Coupled) LPTV & Translators (ISED/FCC Compliant)
FC8D110C UHF 8-Pole Mask Filter (Critical Mask) Strict Interference Requirements

💡 PRO TIP: Running Hot?

If your transmitter site is located in a high-temperature region or has poor ventilation, ask us to quote the O-HFC.07 Heat Sink Option. This factory upgrade boosts ATSC power handling to 1.5 kW and keeps the filter running cooler, extending the lifespan of your system.

"Site Down" Priority Service

We know that translator sites are often remote and hard to access. While these are custom-tuned components, MDL leverages a direct expedited logistics channel with Com-Tech Italy to slash lead times.

  • Priority Manufacturing: We can request "rush" production for Station Down situations.
  • Direct Air Freight: We skip the consolidation warehouse. Filters ship via FedEx International Priority or DHL directly from the tuning bench in Italy to your office or site.
  • Pre-Tuned Precision: Filters arrive fully swept to your channel (e.g., Ch. 27). No field sweep required—just plug and play.

Guaranteed Compliance: ISED BPR-10 Masks

Canadian regulations differ from the FCC. You need a filter that specifically meets Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) requirements. We coordinate directly with the factory to custom tune every filter to your specific license conditions:

  • ISED "Simple" Emission Mask: For standard low-power setups where interference is low risk.
  • ISED "Stringent" Emission Mask: Required for crowded RF environments or co-located sites.
  • ATSC 1.0 & ATSC 3.0 Ready: Future-proof your site for NextGen TV.
Engineer's Note: Unsure which mask your station requires? Send us your ISED Call Sign, and we will verify your BPR-10 requirements before quoting.

The "Zero-Downtime" Strategy: On-Site Crash Kits

The Reality: Even with expedited shipping, a factory order from Italy takes time. If you operate a critical translator that generates revenue, waiting 2 weeks for a filter is not an option.

Because the FC6D110C is compact (4RU) and shelf-stable, we recommend purchasing a "Universal Spare" for your engineering shop.

  • Low Cost of Insurance: A fraction of the cost of a new transmitter.
  • Instant Availability: It sits on your shelf, ready to be deployed the moment a VSWR alarm trips.
  • Future Proof: Can be re-tuned to different channels if your network topology changes.
